摘要: In India the infrastructure in terms of road connectivity is a running phenomenon where Jute Geo-Textile (JGT) can effectively be used in selected site conditions. Tripura has been one of the contributory with a jute manufacturing industry still alive in the state. Tripura is also a state where stones are merely available and need to borrow it from Assam or Bangladesh. The cost and energy as involved and the crisis in the type of materials as require for road construction is a major concern. One rural road under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) is selected for using JGT as an alternative technology. The design steps as involved for considering JGT have been discussed with an emphasis on locally available materials. The total thickness of pavement has been reduced to considerable extent limited to this specific road conditions. The technology using JGT in this road proves the cost effectiveness with respect to conventional road design in one direction and the energy saving on the other and thus confirming a green technology to use. The steps as discussed in the design may readily be available to design office to carry forward this green technology to future road construction on selection basis.
