Longitudinal Analyses of Washington State Student Travel Surveys |
摘要: |
The goal of the project is to provide Washington State Safe Route to
School (SRTS) programs with data that will support their future efforts
to promote active school travel (AST) and to insure the safety of
students traveling to school.
The research team aims to test three hypotheses using the unique longitudinal dataset
of Student Travel for Washington State (2014, 2016, 2018) in
combination with data on school characteristics; school neighborhood
street infrastructure and land use; Safe Route to School (SRTS) projects
(2005-today); and state-wide vehicular collision data (2001-2017).
The project is relevant to PacTrans themes and strategic goal because
student travel relates to issues of parent and youth accessibility to
schools.
The project will lead to an enhanced understanding of trends in the
modes used to travel to and from school. It will generate useful
information on how to reduce school-related vehicular traffic congestion
and therefore improve the efficiency and reliability of future
transportation systems. |
