Alternative material has to be adopted within the construction of pavements so as to minimize the use of natural resources. Jarofix is one of the industrial waste material disposed from zinc industry. The present research work investigates the feasibility of utilizing Jarofix as a subgrade material for road construction. The Jarofix is blended with the soil by 10-50% by weight of mix and Mild Steel Slag (MSS) were introduced by 2.5-10 % by weight of mix to know the variations of density and CBR value of Soil-Jarofix-MSS mixes. All the experimental works have been carried out as per the relevant Indian Standard (IS) codes. Cost analysis of pavement is carried out to know the savings by using Jarofix and MSS. The result obtained shows that the selected mixes have adequate capability to be used in road foundation layers, thus presenting a solution to build good roads at low-cost, reduce the use of natural materials and use the waste materials. |
