Because of highly permeable soils and high water tables, deep foundations and basements in southeast Florida have been virtually impossible, limiting the excavation depths in cities like Miami and leading to the use of valuable aboveground real estate for parking. But thanks to contractor innovations including cutter soil mixing, deep soil mixing, and continuous flight auger megapiles--robust underground support is now possible, and towers with basements for parking in and near Miami are rising. |
