Since becoming operational in summer 2018, the $3-billion Olmsted Locks and Dam on the Ohio River between Illinois and Kentucky has enabled more efficient commercial navigation, helping keep merica's water highways moving. As part of the herculean effort to construct the dam in the wet, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and its partners designed and built the structure's massive precast-concrete components onshore, moved them to their required locations, and installed them within extremely tight tolerances. |
