This study focuses on determining the moisture susceptibility of bituminous mixes prepared with different types of bituminous binder. Two types of bitumen binder VG30 and CRMB55 have been used. Indirect tensile strength test was conducted according to AASHTO T283 satndard on bituminous concrete (BC) mixes in this study. ITS value of BC mixes was also evaluated for increased conditioning time to check the adverse effect of prolonged moisture conditions. It was found that BC mixes prepared with VG30 bitumen failed to meet the minimum required value of tensile strength ratio of 80% whereas mixes prepared with CRMB55 bitumen showed better resistance to moisture damage. Anti- stripping agents are used to increase the resistance of bituminous mixes to moisture damage. In this study, an anti-stripping agent (ASA) with dosage of 0.05% and 0.075% by weight of bitumen. The results show that ASA enhances the performance of bituminous mixes for increased conditioning period also. |
