This project supports the continuing efforts of the State University System of Florida in the establishment of the Center for Intermodal Transportation Safety & Security. The Center is designed to address the potential threats of terrorism affecting the safety and general economic welfare of Florida's population and its transportation-based infrastructure. A real-time simulation system will be established for creating computer-based digital visualizations of transit systems, railroads, seaports, and airports for the purpose of planning, engineering, management and security activities, using 3-D and 4-D modeling and simulation. The Center's primary mission is to support initiatives by the state to protect and encourage the economic vitality of Florida by preventing both terrorism and transportation gridlock. |
