摘要: |
The Virginia state-of-the-practice using the falling weight deflectometer for asphalt concrete pavement evaluation and in situ characterization of pavement layers and subgrade is described. The process is accomplished using the computer program PEDMOD (Pavement Evaluation Design Model) developed at the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). This mechanistic tool uses layered elastic concepts with the results from nondestructive testing to: (a) estimate the respective elastic moduli of pavement layers and subgrade, (b) evaluate the performance of various pavement systems, (c) provide rehabilitation options, and (d) determine the life-cycle cost of rehabilitation alternatives. An example showing PEDMOD application is demonstrated. The procedures described herein are being routinely applied by VDOT personnel in their decision-making process for pavement rehabilitation at the project level. |
