| 摘要： | By the time this report is printed and distributed, the Panama Canal will have been officially transferred to Panama on December 31, 1999, under the terms of the 1977 Panama Canal Treaty. The Panama Canal Commission, a U.S. government corporation, will have disappeared and the waterway will continue its operations and administration under the stewardship of the Panama Canal Authority, an autonomous Panamanian governmental agency. This will be the last regular Annual Report produced by the Panama Canal Commission. A final three-month report, corresponding to the first quarter of fiscal year 2000 (October 1, 1999, to noon, December 31, 1999), will provide a full accounting at the end of calendar year 1999. |
