| 摘要： | This report contains the findings of a study to improve the collection and presentation of physical roadway inventory data through the application of existing, emerging, and transferable technology. Technical viability and cost-effectiveness for the most promising data collection technologies were verified, as were the processes for populating databases. Application of a linear indexing scheme to these databases permitted automation of straight-line diagram (SLD) production, proving the entire methodology feasible. The contents responsible for planning, administering, maintaining, and improving highway systems, as well as the many, varied transportation department units that currently input or use inventory data. |
