Some results of the research program 'Development of Wood Bridges', commenced in Helsinki University of Technology, Laboratory of Bridge Engineering, in 1992, are presented and discussed. Theoretical approach for numerical solution of linear and nonlinear, static and dynamic behavior of wood bridge structures is presented. Test results from static and dynamic experiments of a wooden truss bridge model are included. The effect of elastic supporting to the vibration of the model is studied. Possibilities for structural tuning and damping of vibrations of wood bridges are discussed. |
