摘要：	This report documents the findings of a project to develop a multimodal, multidimensional location referencing system (MDLRS) data model that can be adopted by transportation agencies, geodata standards groups, and Geographic Information Systems for Transportation (GIS-T) software vendors. The contents of this report are, therefore, of immediate interest to transportation planners and to people in transportation agencies who are concerned with information systems management. The report contains four chapters, a glossary, a reference section, and an appendix. Chapter 1 contains a statement of the problem being addressed, in addition to the purpose, audience, objectives, and scope of this research, and provides an overview of the research approach. Chapter 2 presents the MDLRS data model and discusses the tools needed to understand and interpret the data model. Chapter 3 presents guidelines for interpreting and implementing the MDLRS data model. Chapter 4 describes how the MDLRS data model solves the problem identified in Chapter 1, and presents areas of future research and potential improvements. The glossary defines terms and acronyms used in this report; the reference section cites sources; and the appendix lists the participants and agenda of the workshop on MDLRS functional specifications.
