| 摘要： | This synthesis will be of interest to transit agency general managers, as well as operations, maintenance, and planning personnel. It will also be of interest to environmental agency officials, equipment suppliers, consultants, and others concerned with bus operations planning and design. This synthesis summarizes the options available under the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) Urban Bus Retrofit/Rebuild Program for heavy-duty diesel bus engines and clarifies the information in the regulations for transit agencies developing their own strategies for compliance. An overview of transit agency programs already in place to reduce particulate matter (PM) emissions is also provided. This report of the Transportation Research Board strives to familiarize transit agency staff with EPA's Retrofit/Rebuild Program, which is designed to reduce the amount of PM emissions in metropolitan areas with 1980 populations of 750,000 or more, beginning on January 2, 1995, and ending when all pre 1994 model year engines are retired. This synthesis provides a concise summary of the EPA program requirements, including two specified options. |
