摘要：	These comments introduce the subject of the seminar's first panel, which is forecast of future needs and discussion of airfield capacity problems. Some of the facts pointed out are as follows: Worldwide, the United States accounts for 45% of all air traffic; 90% of the commercial traffic travels at 70 of the 546 commercial service airports in the U.S.; the top 30 airports account for 70%, and the top 17 airports account for 50%, of all of the air traffic; and there are only 2 proposed new airports in the U.S., while there are 80 airports proposed worldwide.
