The National Highway Research and Technology Partnership was created by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), the Transportation Research Board (TRB), and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to develop a framework to coordinate highway research and technology (R&T) activities amongst researchers and sponsors. The partnership seeks to make R&T investments more effective, foster awareness of existing research programs, stimulate the formation of R&T partnerships, and demonstrate needs for research. A forum of organizations in the partnership has convened three times in 1998, 1999, and 2001. Reports from working groups are available on the TRB R&T Partnership Forum Web site at http://www4.trb.org/trb/homepage.nsf/web/r&t_forum. These reports will then be used to complete a synthesis report of the working group reports. The synthesis report will be used to help transportation decision makers present detailed suggestions to the transportation community and legislature. |
