| 摘要： | In Whalen, Oregon the Western Federal Lands Highway Division (WFLHD) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) have purchased the 179-acre Whalen Island and Sand Lake Estuary to save it from development. One of only two remaining natural estuaries in the state of Oregon, the Sand Lake Estuary provides crucial habitat for a variety of species. The purchase of the land is part due to an FHWA goal of wetland replacement to compensate for acres lost in highway development. |
