摘要: |
This article describes 2 recent road surveys undertaken by the Federal Highway Administration's Central Federal Lands Highway Division in which helicopter-borne, low altitude Light Detection And Ranging (LiDAR) terrain measuring equipment was employed. Both surveys were needed to plan upgrades to existing gravel roads in environmentally sensitive areas. While LiDAR may not be the right tool for every road or highway survey, its flexibility and accuracy, described here in some detail, provide options that can save time and manpower on certain types of projects. |
