摘要：	It is a difficult process to determine the true cost of a road construction improvement project. There are "hard" costs, such as labor and materials, and there are "soft" costs, such as those to road users who experience travel delays as they negotiate their way through traffic work zones. A tool to help quantify delays and estimate user costs would benefit everyone affected by work zones, including highway officials, workers, and motorists. This article describes QuickZone, a recently released software package that estimates traveler delay due to work zones, and, by doing so, provides a more complete and realistic view of total construction costs. QuickZone is a key component of the Strategic Work-Zone Analysis Tools Program of the U.S. Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), and was developed by FHWA's Office of Research, Development, and Technology, and by Mitretek Systems.
