| 摘要： | Wetlands are vital natural ecosystems for a large variety of plants and animals, yet they are rapidly being altered or converted for other land uses. This article discusses the role of the U.S. Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) in efforts to ensure the protection and enhancement of wetlands. The FHWA is committed to preserving wetlands and is moving steadily toward its goal of achieving a 50% increase in wetlands acreage resulting from federal-aid highway projects from 1998-2008. |
