| 摘要： | The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) realizes that a huge gap exists between state of the art in transportation technology and state of the practice in the transportation community. With reauthorization of the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act (ISTEA) on the minds of FHWA officials, the subject of technology and closing the gap is a focus of the reauthorization proposal. Technology deployment is essential to determine the effectiveness and demonstrate the benefits of new technology. A National Technology Deployment Initiatives program could be a step in the right direction. Such a program would focus on accelerating the implementation of technologies that address specific technology goals that are consumer-driven. This article provides some possible goals for a technology deployment program that are based on FHWA's outreach activities. |
