| 摘要： | A new Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) cooperative agreement with the Republic of South Africa (RSA) will facilitate the transfer of appropriate technology and road-related information between the United States (U.S.) and the RSA. Three broad goals are stipulated: 1) develop a two-way transfer of technology and information; 2) promote U.S. industry in South Africa and throughout Africa; and 3) cooperate with South Africa in the transition to a post-apartheid, fully democratic governing system in South Africa. This article describes the cooperative work of the FHWA with the RSA Department of Transport, including establishment of technology exchange centers, development of demonstration projects, and improvement of education and training programs to bolster the transportation infrastructure. |
