JASON: To get the full picture, we have to look all the way back to 2005 - as with many transit plans, this is a long-term plan. Back in 2005, EMBARK led what we would now refer to as a fixed guideway study to establish what transit could or should look like for the region by 2030. That plan described a robust bus network, and a big part of it was bus rapid transit and identifying corridors in the region that could support it. The 2005 study identified five suitable corridors for BRT, one of which is obviously the one that we're designing and constructing today, currently known as the Northwest Bus Rapid Transit, which will serve Northwest Oklahoma City. |
