摘要: National Express agreed a deal in December to sell its Dundee bus and coach operation to Greenock-based McGill's Bus Service, subject to completion by the end of the month. The business trades in the Dundee area under the Xplore Dundee brand for bus travel and Xplore More for the currently suspended Dundee-Edinburgh Airport express coach service and other coach hire. Local authority-owned, 190-vehicle Tayside Public Transport was sold to its 600 employees in 1991 in a £4million deal, but was sold on six years later to National Express for £12.5million. Now, it has changed hands again, but for an undisclosed sum. In the 30 years since it was privatised, the fleet has shrunk to 1 20, and the number of employees reduced to 350. The business turns over more than £1 8million per annum and is still based at the East Dock Street site it has occupied since 1972 when it was municipally owned.
