Stagecoach South West has given notice to quit seven Plymouth City Council supported local service contracts from 1 January, with Go South West's Plymouth Citybus wimiing the bulk of replacements. Stagecoach expanded in Plymouth after securing most of the unitary authority's eight-year contracts in October 2018, requiring an extra 11 vehicles and taking it into new areas. Most were won from Target Travel, which subsequently lost its operator licence last February. In January 2020, before the pandemic, Stagecoach said most of the contracts expiring in 2026 were no longer financially viable. In the absence of an increased payment, it said it would terminate them early. |
