Birmingham-based Grayson Thermal Systems has developed and fitted a modification to the cab air-conditioning system on over 1,200 buses in London. The enhancement creates positive pressure in the driver's cab, forcing existing air out and replacing it with air from outside the bus. Commissioned by Transport for London, with advice from University College London, Grayson developed a prototype within three weeks which has been deployed over the past three months. Gab ventilation systems on the remaining 8,100 buses in London were modified by changing the damper setting on the units to draw air from outside rather than simply recirculaing it. |
