摘要: The NRMA-ACT Road Safety Trust was established in 1992 with a $10 million grant from NRMA Insurance Ltd. The Trust has provided grants for road safety projects over the past six years with the objective ‘of enhancing road safety for the benefit of the ACT road using community.’ The Trust allocated its funds in five main areas: · support for community road safety organisations; · accident prevention; · use and misuse of safety equipment; · care of the injured, bereaved and traumatised; and · research and evaluation. The Trust used a ‘partnership’ model which provided funds to activate a very substantial reservoir of ideas, enthusiasm and expertise in a wide range of community, industry and professional groups. The level of involvement of ACT Government agencies, as major players in road safety, also changed significantly over time. Allocating road safety grants can be done very easily, but it is much harder to ensure the assistance achieves high quality outcomes effectively. Accordingly, a largely qualitative evaluation was undertaken of how well the Trust achieved its objective.
