| 摘要： | PURPOSE: To outline the RoadWise Road Safety Around Schools program which has been developed to reduce the incidence and severity of injuries to primary and school-age children as road environment users. The objectives are to: Identify and improve all identified road safety issues relating to individual primary school environments Involve Local Government and the total school communities in developing and providing engineering and environmental road safety interventions. METHOD By describing the efforts of RoadWise, and schools through the implementation of a range of measures including: Development of appropriate survey tools Development of strategies/action plans including cultural and environmental factors. Development of resources to increase students and parent/motorist’ road safety knowledge and knowledge Road safety seminars for school which provide road safety resources information and advice from local road safety stakeholders. RESULTS The RoadWise Road Safety Around Schools program has been adopted by over 250 schools with over $1 million worth of engineering road safety interventions being provided as a result. Every school involved in the program will be re-surveyed in their third year of implementation to evaluate: Changes in child pedestrian and motorist behavior Changes in mode of travel Use and understanding of engineering road safety interventions |
