摘要: Alaska's Lynn Canal has a reputation for being particularly treacherous, especially in the winter when it's dark much of the day. That's now the home of the Goldbelt Seawolf. The 74'×24' catamaran with seating for 120 was launched in September 2019, by Bay Weld Boats in Homer, Alaska, for Goldbelt Transportation in Juneau. In late 2019, the Goldbelt Seawolf started making two round trips per day, 90 minutes each way, transporting miners to the Kensington gold mine from Yankee Cove in the Juneau area. "They unload one group and bring another group back," said Eric Enge-bretsen, Bay Weld Boats general manager. "It's a pretty unique mission they have, transporting miners to the gold mine. It's a remote mine, and the only way they have to get there is by boat. They have to travel 365 days a year. They never stop, no matter what the weather."
