摘要: Paradigma is a co-operative development. Not only does it show how different parts of a traffic management system can come from different providers, the system itself is produced by a conglomerate with different partners. It is also a project where the Transport Research Center is responsible for in-house development of components. The TOP wrapper is developed in close cooperation with JRA; the developer of the TOP. Such an approach is not very common. The fast development in information technology requires good basic knowledge of the different domains to be able to commission and guide the development of new traffic systems. In other words: The proof of the pudding is in the eating. Paradigma is an example of what a regional system can look like in the future. The way it is built results in a generally applicable solution. Co-operation between partners will allow each partner to learn how such general solution should look like. As Paradigma is designed to be a generally applicable solution, co-operation with other road operators is planned so that experiences and costs can be shared. This co-operation will improve the quality of the open standards approach. The design and implementation of the TOP showed that there are many pitfalls to be aware of; a redesign would be a silly waste of time if there is no real economical or technical reason. And as the program is solid and modular, it seems totally unnecessary at the moment. By integrating legacy systems you can extend the lifetime of systems. The use of Java as a core technology proved to be very successful. The frequently mentioned problems like "slow and inefficient" are not correct. Java is an excellent choice when secure and stable programs are needed. The standardized libraries make it possible to create portable programs which can run on almost every hardware platform.
