摘要: The first HOV-lane ever in Norway was implemented in Holtermanns Road/Elgeseter Street in the city of Trondheim the 9th of May 2001. The lane is open for carpools with 2 or more occupants. Holtermanns Road/Elgeseter Street is an arterial street with 2 lanes in each direction, and it is the main entrance to the city center from the south. The HOV-lane is the right hand lane in the northbound direction (near the sidewalk). An evaluation based on parameters like travel time, car occupancy, traffic volume, queue length and violation is carried out. The results show that the HOV-lane give buses and carpools an improved and a more reliable travel time. Also the number of carpools has increased. The travel times for cars has increased, but not more than what is considered "acceptable.".
