摘要: The purpose of this paper is to present the design and results of a field evaluation of alternative signal control strategies that were tested in a congested grid network in downtown Chicago. A TRANSYT-7F optimized signal timing, a Genetic Algorithm based fixed-time optimized signal timing developed by National Institute of Statistical Sciences (NISS), and Real-Time Traffic Adaptive Control System (RT-TRACS) system provided by PB Farradyne Incorporation (PBFI) were evaluated and compared. System performance evaluation was conducted based on empirical data on approach control delays and queue lengths of test intersections. The results of the field evaluations indicate that the NISS' Genetic Algorithm based optimized signal control plan showed acceptable results among these strategies.
