摘要: |
An investigation into the feasibility of deploying cooperative vehicle-highway automation systems has been initiated in the context of two site-specific case studies in the metropolitan Chicago area. Each case study focuses on the potential for implementation of these systems for two distinct and special classes of vehicles: transit buses and heavy trucks, to address traffic congestion-related problems. The objectives of these investigations are to design appropriate system operating concepts and preliminary system designs to meet the needs of the stakeholders in the local/regional area, perform analyses and estimate system benefits and costs and identify implementation issues requiring resolution prior to taking the next steps toward implementation. |
