摘要: |
The monitoring of the acceptance of ITS technology by drivers and the provision of driver information services by automobile clubs is described. The standardisation of ITS infrastructure is considered fundamental to its successful adoption but that allowance must be made for the individual preferences of drivers in the formats in which they receive information. The adoption of ITS in its initial phase will consist of adaptation of previously bought vehicles and niche market sales at the luxury end of the market. There is particular interest in theft deterrent and the involvement of automobile clubs in Australia is outlined. Products developed by German and UK automobile clubs are also outlined. Phase two will consist of luxury and special vehicle standard equipment fit and phase three mass market deployment. It is in this last phase that the full benefits of ITS will occur. The major components directed at the motorist are the in vehicle unit hardware, intelligent call/assistance centres, and information/content provision. It is suggested that the automobile clubs could achieve far more if they worked together globally. (A*) For the covering abstract see ITRD E110327. |
