The origin destination (O-D) matrices that are provided from toll collection systems are not regional matrices but inter-tollgate ones. So they have not been used for the freeway traffic analysis and the traffic demand estimation despite of their accuracy and reality. In this paper, therefore, a practical model estimating regional O-D matrices from inter-tollgate ones was proposed. The assigned volumes with the estimated O-D matrices produced the only 17.9% error all over the freeways when they were compared to the real traffic volumes. So the proposed model enables us to estimate more accurate O-D matrices than any other existing methods. Moreover, more accurate regional O-D matrices could be obntained for all roads as well as those for freeways than any other conventional ones. (A*) For the covering abstract see ITRD E110327. |
