摘要: As evidenced by many studies, the approaching speeds of major-road vehicles greatly influence minor-road driver's gap acceptance behavior, and actually mutual interactions exist. Time gap, measured when major-road vehicles arrive at a fixed reference line, is inherently limited in ignoring the possible change of approaching speeds. Projected time gap (time gap projected to a fixed reference line), though intuitively a better measure, is beyond the capability of conventional methods. This paper, adopting CAMIDAS - a Video Image Processing (VIP) software package presents an innovative approach, which is capable of extracting the distance gaps as well as the associated major road vehicle speed, and hence the projected time gap measure.
