A vision system to automatically control a vehicle's lighting system was designed and developed. This system aims to reduce the number of accidents occurring at night by improving road illumination, reducing dazzling of other drivers, automating various lighting tasks and detecting pedestrians present on the road. The vision system is driven by an image-processing algorithm, which detects lane markings to predict the headlamps' aiming direction and to determine the traffic environment.
