摘要: The Hanshin Expressway Public Corporation began the operation of the traffic control system in 1970. The system has collected traffic data such as traffic volume, time occupancy and time mean velocity from ultrasonic vehicle detectors equipped on the network every 500 meters automatically. Recently, in operation of the system, there are some problems caused by a limitation of an Eulerian way of measuring traffic data. Thus, a Lagrangean way of measurement, which collect continuous and detailed traffic data from individual vehicle, is required for improvement of the system and usage of accumulated traffic data. In this paper, we focussed on the vehicle velocity measurement system, which can measure velocity at a sampling rate of 5Hz. Using this system, we measured continuous velocity data under actual traffic conditions on the expressway. Based on the experimental results, availability of a Lagrangean way of measuring traffic data is verified. Furthermore, application of the vehicle velocity measurement system to the traffic control system is also discussed.
