摘要: The Ohio State University (OSU) Bus Location Information System (BLIS) provides real time bus location and arrival time information to passengers of the extensive campus bus system. The bus equipment consists of a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver, a single board computer, a wireless Cellular Digital Packet Data (CDPD) modem, and a bus driver interface which collect the current bus location and velocity and transmit it over the internet to a central computer. The central computer collects information from each bus and provides graphical and textual bus location information available on the world wide web. It also estimates the next bus arrival time for each route at each stop and formats that information for display on programmable message display signs installed at the bus stops. The central computer also archives bus location data, which is used both by OSU Transportation and Parking to evaluate bus service and by students in a traffic management course and laboratory studying urban traffic flow patterns. The hardware and software used in this project was designed manufactured, and implemented as a student project within the OSU College of Engineering and the OSU Center for Intelligent Transportation Research.
