| 摘要： | This paper describes a low-cost radio-based motorist information system that provides automatic emergency warnings and route-specific traffic alerts. The in-vehicle component of the system is a new generation RDS radio, i.e., a RDS radio that has expanded memory and is compatible with the recently developed RDS Open Data Applications programmed with new application-specific software based on a new non- proprietary protocol. Radio manufacturers can easily develop their own version of the new application software and load it into the RDS radio during the manufacturing process. RDS radios will be standard equipment on several models of cars in the U.S. in 1998. Moreover, the provision of in-vehicle safety warnings could be sufficient reason for providing RDS decoding capability in all new cars within the next few years. |
