| 摘要： | This paper describes the experiences of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) for the selection of qualified variable message sign (VMS) manufacturers to provide National Transportation Communications for ITS Protocols (NTCIP) compliant signs. It also describes the difficulties of integrating the proposed communications architecture (based on dial-up communications) with the limited set of NTCIP communication standards. The signs VDOT specified are light- emitting diode (LED) signs with walk-in cabinets. The signs are required to support most of the functionality addressed in the current NTCIP DMS Draft Standard for monitoring and control. |
