摘要: |
A breath alcohol analyzed ignition interlock device (BAIID) or Ignition Interlock is an electronic device which is interconnected with the power, electrical and other control systems of a motor vehicle, the purpose of which is to prevent a driver from starting or operating the vehicle when the BAC is above a predetermined threshold level. The device is used within a program of monitoring and supervision of participants who have been accorded early or restricted driving privileges following a DUI or similar conviction. The device is required to prevent or detect attempts at bypass or circumvention through the provision of bogus or altered breath samples or the starting of the vehicle without first conducting a valid breath test. Each use of the device and any use of the vehicle is to be logged into the internal memory of the device for later retrieval and analysis to ensure that the objectives of the ignition interlock program have been met by the participant.
