摘要: The study continued the development of performance-related specifications (PRS) for jointed plain concrete pavements (JPCP). Under this research project, the prototype PRS (developed under previous FHWA research) were revised and expanded to make them more practical. Different implementation levels of the PRS were defined (Levels 1, 2, and 3), with the simplified PRS (Level 1) designed to be immediately implementable. The report (four volumes) is offered as a practical guide to developing and using PRS for the acceptance of JPCP lots. It discusses all aspects of the research, including the step-by-step procedures for developing and using PRS, results of demonstrations of the PRS methodology, explanations of supplementary laboratory and field studies, and the User Guide for the revised PaveSpec 2.0 PRS demonstration software. Volume II documents three different methods used to demonstrate the revised PRS. The first method involved the conduct of shadow field trials at four new construction projects. The second method involved developing Level 1 specifications for three typical designs used by a State Highway Agency (SHA). The third demonstration method consisted of comparing historical pay adjustments (actually paid by the SHA) to PRS-based price adjustments predicted for the same pavement lots. Each of these three methods was used to investigate the PRS practicality and implementability.
