Infrastructure development is getting the highest priority from Government of India. In spite of facing economic slow down post pandemic, the allocation on construction of highways and rural roads has not affected. There is a demand for rapid implementation of road projects to help generate the employment and increase expenditure. The need for speedy construction necessitates deployment of more innovative and modern methods of construction which facilitate adherence to the timelines and enable construction of high quality and durable roads matching international standards. Due to huge road construction programme taken up in last two decades resulting into scarcity of traditional road construction materials, high cost of transporting suitable construction materials over distances more than 300 kms, indiscriminate mining of sand and aggregates resulting into environment degradation, there is a critical requirement of promoting use of innovative new/alternative and sustainable materials and technologies. |
