Access roads are a critical infrastructure component for underground mines. The operational characteristics of these roads directly affect mine efficiency, operating costs and safety. Much of the mine's operating expenses are due to material transportation, and well-constructed roads help reduce cycle times, fuel consumption, tire wear and transportation costs per ton of ore. Most importantly, they are vital for a safe transportation system. The leading causes of poor road conditions in underground mines are: 1.Use of heavy mining equipment 2.Water inflow and softened rocks at the base of the roads 3.Lack of road service and specialized equipment for road maintenance In turn, high-performance heavy hauling equipment with a high mass and specific pressure on the ground that exceeds the ultimate strength of bulk unfrac-tionated rock creates rutting, the inverse diagram of the profile of the route, which contributes to water stagnation, soil softening and premature loss of functionality of unreinforced roads. |
