This document contains the results of the U.S. State/ODOT district traffic engineer survey on temporary pavement marking systems. The survey described in this appendix provides some insight in the temporary pavement marking practices applied by the highway agencies across the United States. Questionnaires containing a total of 14 questions pertaining to temporary pavement markings were mailed out to the Chief Traffic Engineers of all State highway agencies and all ODOT districts. The survey indicated that the States of New York and Texas use double dashed (coded) temporary center stripes to communicate no-passing zones. It was further found that research studies conducted or commissioned by the highway agencies were generally concerned with the evaluation of novel pavement marking materials. |
