This software catalog is based on the 'Pavement Management for Local Agencies' course materials developed for the FHWA by the Texas Transportation Institute, Texas A&M University. Throughout the pavement management course, concepts and options are introduced and explained. The items discussed in this catalog are the important items that were developed in the course. In order to develop this catalog, a request was sent out to most of the known providers of both public and private domain pavement management software and data collection systems to provide copies of their software, documentation, and a list of users. Not all of the providers submitted their software for review, and other providers were not even aware of the request. Therefore, this catalog is not meant to be an exhaustive review of all pavement management software, but rather is intended to illustrate the types of packages available. The public domain software is provided by public agencies, typically at a nominal cost, to interested agencies and is usually implementable by the requesting agency with little or no additional assistance required. The private software is provided to interested agencies and may be implementable by the requesting agency with little or not additional assistance required or implemented by the software provided. The criteria for inclusion of a specific software package into this description of PMS software was that the software or manuals be submitted by the appropriate date, that a variety of agencies use the software, that the software uses valid pavement management principles, and that it provides examples of different levels of complexity. No attempt is made here to rank the software on a best to worst basis. Each software system has instances where it will best meet the needs of its users. Instead of best to worst, the software is arranged in alphabetical order. |
