| 摘要： | The Class IV supply category includes fortification materials, obstacle and barrier materials, and construction materials for base development and general engineering. Having an accurate, quick estimate of the Class IV supply requirements for a given contingency is crucial to high-level military planning and analysis. Many recent changes in military operations, mission requirements, and force structure have had a significant impact on Class IV supply requirements and on the planning factors used to estimate them. This research derives new Class IV supply planning factors appropriate for updating the Army Force Planning Data and Assumptions used for Total Army Analysis and for supporting contingency planning and analysis at the division level or higher. This research showed that the Class IV consumption rate varies based on the type and phase of the contingency. A single planning factor cannot accurately represent the Class IV requirements. The study recommends that Army planners adopt the simple, one-page methodology for computing a contingency-specific Class IV planning factor as presented in Table 5-4. The study also recommends building interfaces between engineer and logistics components in the computer models used for contingency planning and military analysis. (MM). |
