摘要: Although you're new to the industry, you're not alone in your confusion about billing for paint and materials. I often hear the same type of questions from longtime body shop owners. First of all, it's extremely important for you to fully understand just who it is you work for. I don't know if your shop has any DRPs, and it really doesn't matter, because your true customer is the vehicle owner who engages your shop to perform their repair … not the insurer. As such, you will not bill the insurer, you will bill your customer and look to them for payment. Of course, as a courtesy to your customer, with their permission and direction, you may wish to provide the insurer your damage/repair assessment. This will include your charges for the required labor, parts, paint and materials, with your desired markup or profit margins included. You're running a business, not a hobby, and as such you are entitled to a reasonable profit sufficient to invest back into your company for equipment maintenance and upgrades, marketing, employee benefits and all the other anticipated (and unanticipated) costs and investments involved in growing your business successfully - all the while receiving a return on those investments, known as "income."
