摘要: An international line-up of consortia has been shortlisted for a £2bn proposal to build a tunnel under the River Thames to connect Essex with Kent. The Lower Thames Crossing is being let as three packages and this shortlist comprises bidders for the tunnels and approaches contract. The bidders include a joint venture (JV) of French firm Bouygues Travaux Publics and J Murphy working with consultants Mott MacDonald and Arup, and another JV between Spanish firm Dragados and German group Hochtief. The third bidder is the BFV team comprising BAM Nuttall, the UK arm of Spanish group Ferrovial and VINCI Construction Grands Projets, along with Atkins, Tecnica y Proyectos SA and Stantec. Lower Thames Crossing executive director Matt Palmer said: 'The Lower Thames Crossing is the most ambitious road project this country has seen since the M25 was completed 35 years ago. 'It is unparalleled in its ambition, and we need the right partner to match that ambition. We look forward to entering into competitive dialogue with the three shortlisted companies and hope the final bids match our aspirations.' The winner will deliver the twin three-lane 4.25km long, 16m wide tunnels, which will be among the largest bored tunnels in the world.
