The DVS scheme assigns vehicles a star rating based on how much the driver can see directly through their cab window. All lorries over 12 tonnes now need a permit to operate in London, although zero-rated vehicles fitted with 'safe systems' are permitted. The scheme is part of a wider effort by Transport for London (TfL) to cut KSI casualties among vulnerable road users such as cyclists, pedestrians and motorcyclists, part of the journey towards its headline Vision Zero target of eliminating deaths and serious injuries from London's transport network by 2041. |
